Eighth anniversary of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda
This week marks the eighth anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), signaling the halfway point in achieving the 2030 Agenda. In this context, an official event was held in Barcelona on September 27th, where the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact presented the publication “SDGs Year 8: Economic Profitability and the 2030 Agenda.” Virtual Cable, the Spanish company specializing in digital workplace solutions, was invited to participate and share its experience, explaining how workplace virtualization drives sustainability and economic profitability. These achievements complement Virtual Cable’s best practices, which have been highlighted on the United Nations Global Compact’s COMparte platform, showcasing how its UDS Enterprise solution family helps companies combat climate change and reduce their carbon footprint.
The event brought together business leaders and sustainability experts to discuss new opportunities for corporate action in support of the SDGs. During this meeting, the increasingly evident relationship between sustainability and a company’s economic profitability over the past eight years was discussed. Virtual Cable plays a crucial role in this evolution, thanks to its innovative VDI solutions that assist organizations of all sizes and sectors in operating more sustainably.
Virtual Cable has developed a digital workplace transformation solution that significantly impacts the circular economy and reduces the carbon footprint. This tool enables the reuse and extension of the lifespan of IT equipment while reducing energy consumption by over 73%. The sustainability of Virtual Cable’s solution was recently recognized with the Madrid Network Award for the most innovative climate change solutions.
Ongoing commitment to the SDGs
Furthermore, this summer, Virtual Cable was awarded the title of “Sustainable Providers” by the United Nations Global Compact. Additionally, the Madrid-based technology company has advanced from a Signatory Partner to a Participant Partner in the United Nations Global Compact. As a company committed to the global initiative leading corporate sustainability, Virtual Cable has demonstrated its dedication to implementing the Ten Principles of the Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The software developer has also joined the United Nations Global Compact Spain’s Climate Ambition Accelerator program, an initiative designed to drive ambitious climate action and promote a more sustainable future for all.
Fernando Feliu, Executive Managing Director of Virtual Cable, explains that “on the eighth anniversary of the SDGs, Virtual Cable reaffirms our commitment as a key player in promoting socially and environmentally responsible business practices, actively contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the building of a better world for future generations.”
