Carlos Romero, Head of the Virtual Campus of the University of Malaga, will be in charge of offering the presentation on the Virtual PC Plugin, in which he will explain how simple is to provide access to virtual desktops to Moodle users thanks to UDS Enterprise.

This year, the Moodle event in Barcelona acquires international dimension for the first time, so attendees from all over the world will have the chance to learn about the advantages of integrating UDS Enterprise and Moodle. The presentation on this development has been chosen among the numerous proposals presented given its great interest to the educational community.

The Virtual PC Plugin was developed by the University of Malaga in collaboration with the UDS Enterprise team so that students and teachers can take full advantage of the benefits of desktop virtualization. Allows to assign Windows or Linux virtual desktops with virtual applications already installed as another teaching resource, through the UDS Enterprise connection broker.

The whole process is done in a very simple way. The IT administrator defines the virtual desktops that can be accessed from the e-Learning platform. Through a simple filter, one can specify which virtual desktops teachers can see and choose. Once these steps have been completed, teachers choose which virtual machines will be made available to students to provide specific learning content. Students access virtual desktops in the same way they access Moodle, through the identification and authorization system of the e-Learning platform.

The VDI UDS Enterprise broker provides the connection to the virtualization platform chosen by the IT administrator. Thanks to its flexibility, it allows to choose from a multitude of platforms, being possible to enable several to run at the same time: Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix Acropolis, RHEV KVM, oVirt KVM, VMware vSphere, XCP-ng, OpenGnSys, OpenNebula, OpenStack

This pioneering integration offers a great versatility to the teaching activity, combining all the didactic resources and the advantages of the virtualization of desktops and applications in a single platform accessible 24 hours a day, from any place and through any device.

The Moodle community has been using the UDS Enterprise Virtual PC Plugin successfully for several years. It is available for download in the Moodle plugins directory and is compatible from version 2.8 of Moodle onwards.

The presentation “Activity plugin Virtual PC. Easy delivery of VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) to Moodle users”will take place on Tuesday, November 19 at 2:50 PM within MoodleMoot Global 2019 PICO Presentations program.

The UDS Enterprise team makes available to the user community a comprehensive online demo to test the multiple advantages and possibilities of integrating the two solutions. You can request access request access at this link.
