We support innovation with Linux

by | Oct 10, 2017

VirtualCable and UDS Enterprise have joined the Open Invention Network  (OIN), a global organization whose goal is to protect the Linux ecosystem. By becoming part of this entity, we give our patents to the community and we promise not to use our patents against Linux users or developers, systems or applications related to this Open Source OS. In return, we have free access to the patents of other members.

The signing of this agreement with the OIN is part of our policy to support Free Software and open platform innovation, which we reaffirm as developers of Open Source VDI software, whose source code is available on GitHub so that it can be edited and redistributed.

The OIN was founded in 2005 by IBM, NEC, Novell, Phillips, Red Hat and Sony. Today it has more than 2,000 members, among which are Google, Dropbox, Twitter and VirtualCable, joined by the Linux defense against third-party attacks using software patents as weapons.
